Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas

Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas (Toledo, 10th January 1991) is one of the best world handball goalkeepers.
He started to play handball in his hometown until 2007 when, at the age of 16, former FC Barcelona player Enric Masip, then Sports Director at catalan club, signed him. The same season and as a junior, Gonzalo made his debut with the first team coached by Manolo Cadenas.
In 2011, after winning his first Champions League title at 20 years of age, he played on loan for two seasons with Granollers and after another season in the French League, with Toulouse, returning to Barcelona in 2014 for establishing as the first goalkeeper.
Gonzalo won his second Champions League title in 2014/2015 and two medals in his last two appearances at the Euro’s with the Spanish National Team (gold in Croatia 2018, silver in Poland 2016 and bronze in Denmark 2014). Gonzalo is not only famous for his agility and reflexes, but also for his intelligence and ability to anticipate play.
