Sergio Gómez, who became European Champion with the Spanish Under-17 National Team in a dramatic final against England, was thoughtful enough to visit the Media Base Sports offices in Barcelona to share his gold medal with us.
The forward was a key player in Santi Denia's team. As a permanent member in the starting eleven for all six games 'La Rojita' played in Croatia, he scored three goals in three decisive games: the comeback in the debut against Turkey (3-2), the victory over Italy (3-1) that saw Spain classify for the next round (3-1) and the quarter-finals against France (3-1). Sergio also made a goal in the penalty shoot-out of the final against England (2-2).
After a five-day break, Sergio Gómez will return to training with FC Barcelona Youth Team to get ready for the Catalonian Championship. The next challenge with the Spanish Under-17 National Team will be the FIFA World Cup, which is being held in India from October 6 to 28.
