After securing a well-deserved win over Malaga and a hard-earned draw against Atletico, Girona lost their first game in the First Division on their home turf, Montilivi. Pablo Machin's team were unable to find the back of the net against Sevilla (0-1).
It was an unlucky ending for the local team as their captain Alex Granell missed a penalty in the last minute. The midfielder's shot hit the crossbar.
Twenty minutes prior to that, at 69', Muriel opened the scoring by putting the finishing touch to a fast counter-attack by the visitors.
The local team was formed by Gorka Iraizoz; Juanpe, Bernardo, Muniesa; Aday, Pere Pons (Kayode, 79'), Granell, Mojica; Portu (Olunga, 79'), Borja and Stuani (Aleix García, 67').
Girona have four points and this coming week they will play two league games, on Tuesday against Leganes at Butarque (20 h.) and on Saturday against leaders Barça at Montilivi (20.45 h.).
