Girona FC won 0-2 in their first match of 2017 against Real Zaragoza, one of the presumable opponents at the end of the championship.

Pablo Machin's team beat Zaragoza with goals from Fran Sandaza (69'), who returned after an injury, and Ruben Alcaraz (90').

The catalan team, with 36 points in the standings, holds the 2nd spot four points behind the leader, UD Levante, who has one match less.
