Possibly not even in Eli del Estal's best dreams before embarking on her Korean adventure would she have imagined this brilliant result and what this year has been like in South Korea. The challenge was great, and so was the responsibility.
The Cantabrian forward joined the best team in the country, the Hyundai Steel Red Angels from the city of Incheon. She was one of the great signings of the season with the aim of, at least, equaling the team's previous season records: winning the league and the Korean Super Cup. Well, Eli has not only done it, but she has also been one of the best players of the year.
She first lifted the league title, a championship where the Spanish player scored 8 goals in 16 days, being one of the team's top gunners. But the final of the Super Cup was even better. After a 0-0 draw in the first leg against Gyeongju, Eli was the key player in the second leg (2-0) in Incheon with one goal and one assist. The Cantabrian forward has been elected 'woman of the match’. A season that she will hardly forget.
