Huesca is a new La Liga team

Sergio Gómez and Álvaro Fernández made history with SD Huesca, returning the team to LaLiga Santander, just one season after going down to the silver category of Spanish football, and moreover as a champion team.

Huesca sealed the direct promotion to 1st Division a week before the season ending, after beating CD Numancia 3-0 in El Alcoraz; plus, their pursuers, Real Zaragoza and UD Almería, lost against Albacete and Ponferradina respectively.

But on the last matchday and with options to be champions, the North Aragonese team put the finishing touch to the season, after getting the first place because Cádiz CF lost against Albacete and the blue and red team won to Real Sporting 0-1.

This season will be unforgettable for both players. Not only has it been the year of their consolidation in professional football, but their successes at the club level have also led them to debut with the Spanish Under-21 team.

Álvaro Fernández has been the starting goalkeeper of the SD Huesca in 36 games and Sergio Gómez has added a total of 37 participations playing over 2,000 minutes. Two very important pieces for Michel that next year have earned the privilege of continuing his progression among the best players and clubs in the world.
