After a great start of the season with a victory over Malaga and a well-deserved draw against the powerful Atletico, Girona lost its first League match, against Athletic at new San Mamés ground.
Pablo Machin's team performed convincingly for the twenty minutes, but it was the local captain, Iker Muniain, who scored the opener at 25'.
And in the eighth minute of the second time, Aduriz put the game out of the visitors reach with the second gol. Girona kept attacking and created some good chances, but they were unable to score.
The visitors played with Gorka Iraizoz; Alcalá, Bernardo, Muniesa; Maffeo (Mojica, 67'), Pere Pons, Granell (Douglas Luiz, 71'), Aday; Borja, Portu (Kayode, 65') and Stuani.
Girona's next game will see them face to Sevilla at Montilivi this coming Sunday (4.15 pm).
