David Sànchez González

I am a lawyer by trade, even though sport has always been and still is pivotal in my life. I was born in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona) on April 10, 1979, and after graduating in Law from ESADE, I performed my internship in several different firms, such as Uría and Jausàs. I began to practise law full-time in  2004 when I joined the Garrigues law firm, where I was fortunate enough to join the Sports-Entertainment division, where I was responsible for drafting, for example, the vast majority of the contracts for the timeless Bigas Luna classic, 'Yo soy la Juani’.

In 2006, Josep Lluís Vilaseca Requena entrusted me to assist him in Mediapro’s Legal department and my debut was in the now infamous 'Second Football War' battle for audiovisual rights ownership. I was involved, at a contractual level, in the purchase and sale of international rights to football, basketball and Formula 1; the collaboration with beIN Sports and its development in France; the construction of Al Jazeera studios in Qatar; the setting up of Gol Televisión and the negotiations with different operators; the foundation of Media Base Sports (MBS) in 2009.

In 2013, I was appointed deputy director of Mediapro’s Legal Affairs Department and since 2014, I have devoted my time and energies exclusively to MBS, not only as head of legal matters, but also as Director of the company’s headquarters and flagship offices in Barcelona.

And finally, when work allows me some time off, I run, swim and I cycle. After being an avid swimmer, soccer and basketball player as a child, I have been enjoying triathlon for a decade. I finished second in Tarragona in 2014 and third in the Circuit of the Catalan Federation of Acuatlon in 2012. Sport as a profession and as a passion.
