Oriol Domènech i Quintana

My life just wouldn’t make sense without football. Born in Barcelona in 1974, I began watching my brothers Joan and Carles playing for Damm in the mythical ground of La Selva and after just a few months I was already a regular attending my brothers’ matches.

At the age of 11, I joined the youth squad at FC Barcelona and wore the Barça kit for six seasons. After making it to the Mercantil team in my final season as a youth player and hanging up my boots in Martinenc, my relationship with the beautiful game was to continue when I signed for the daily sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo, where I worked from 1997 to 2016 covering all the news from Barça.

Now I have just started an exciting new stage in Media Base Sports, where I head up the Department of Communication, helping our players and young talents to adopt a more solvent approach to their media exposure. And leading the organisation of the Media Base Camp, designed for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 16.

My other passions in life include paddle tennis and handball, Port de la Selva and fine cuisine.
