Pere Guardiola i Sala
Since childhood my life at home has revolved around football. I played for fifteen years, starting off with the youth teams in Gimnàstic Manresa until finally hanging up my boots playing for Vic in Third Division, to start my professional career at Nike in 1997.
During my time working for the sportswear American multinational I held several different positions of responsibility within the Sports Marketing department. I started out recruiting young promises, then I took over management of the company’s relationship with FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team players before heading up the logistics involved in two phenomenal players; Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, before finally taking over as Football Manager for Spain and Portugal, defining strategy for footballers and clubs.
In 2009, together with co-founder and co-owner of Mediapro Jaume Roures, I embarked upon a new professional adventure by setting up Media Base Sports; an agency to represent football players designed to offer our clients the full spectrum of services; a 360 degree service including consultancy and advice in the areas of sports, financials, communications, legal and tax. When we kicked off, our strategy priority was to represent young talent; those whose futures looked bright and we applied a rigorously thorough selection process to decide which athletes we wanted to help. Grassroots football was one of our mainstays in the early days, as it would be impossible to understand our day-to-day, without rendering service to the players from the very beginning; to assist them as they start out, and to grow with them and see them reaching the top. This approach has enabled us to share our experience with more than a hundred players and coaching professionals, as well as clubs and brands.
Notwithstanding, quantity is not our goal and in all our professional dealings as well as in the personal bonds we forge with colleagues and clients alike, our priority will always be quality.
