Maffeo signs for Stuttgart

Pablo Maffeo will play in Stuttgart next season. Manchester City (Maffeo played in Girona on loan) and Stuttgart have reached an agreement for the transfer of the defender for 10 million euros with the 'sky blues' having a buy-back option.

The right back, who signs for Stuttgart until June 2023, is "proud to have the chance to play for oe of the best Bundesliga clubs, which have a great stadium and an ambitious project". The player is very grateful to Manchester City ("they trusted in me when I was a child, trained me up and gave me the dream of my life, to debut in professional football") and Girona, "a club where I enjoyed an unforgettable experience, I will always have it in my heart".

Pablo Maffeo (Sant Joan Despí, Barcelona, July 12, 1997) arrived at Manchester City after beginning in Levante Las Planas and playing in all RCD Espanyol lower teams. He distinguished himself in the youth teams and in the U21 squad coached by Patrick Vieira and arrived to play in first team, coached by Pep Guardiola, in 2016/2017 season. In January 2017, he began his second stage in Girona on loan, and while playing with the team, they won promotion to Spanish First Division, becoming a key player during Girona's magnificent debut season in top category of Spanish football.
